I don't dream very often.
So I decided to record the few dreams I do have.
Last November I had a dream that I was standing in a garden, and a toddler comes up to me.
Her face looked pretty normal except it had vertical slits for eyes. I didn't know how to draw that so I left it blank...
She repeatedly tells me that she is looking for roaches until I wake up.
I drew this in November and just finished painting it today.
The colors are really pretty in person, I think, but my scanner completely killed them. The background is light blue, if that puts anything in perspective...
Also, things I paint while depressed turn out brighter...? I'm starting to notice this trend. It's weird.
I used liquid frisket to mask the white areas (arms, head) while I splatterpainted. It's stinky (ammonia and latex) and kills brushes, but the effect it creates is really neat.
I finally have a good orange thanks to an amazing set of watercolors that a friend bought me for Christmas. I love them and will remember that person whenever I use them.

Totally looks like a toddler, with those weird pudgy hands and lack of wrists (it's like, segments of fat that have this weird form similar to the Michelin tire man...). So that's an accomplishment! Kids are an odd thing to try and draw (for me).
So I really love the paint strokes in the dress, but I don't like this picture because it freaks me out. Toddlers in general freak me out, but faceless toddlers are even more disturbing (nevermind why it would want roaches) - reminds me of this episode of the Twilight Zone I saw when I was really little, with all these faceless men. Shit disturbed me for months. Just GTFO of here, creepo baby!!! DDDDD:
