Ian M. Lawrence
Artist | Professional | Varied
United States
Hi, I'm Ian.
I'm recent graduate from Appalachian State University in BFA Graphic Design.
My interests and artistic tastes are strewn about everywhere. For the most part, I'm a digital, pen and ink, and watercolor artist, but all of this could change soon. I'm not exactly the most consistent artist out there...
My current concentration (if it can be called that) is an ongoing experiment in how I apply media, and the communicative interplay between text and illustrations that speak of nostalgia and a hazy past.
The root of all meaning in my art is based on my emotion and my subconscious at the time of inspiration. Essentially, this creates a great level of variety in my art, the formation of general inconsistencies, and the inability to form a professional portfolio at this point in time.
I draw my inspiration from Salvador Dalí, James Jean, Raoul Sinier, urban and graphic art, and gothic themes.

Current Residence: Boone, North Carolina
Favourite genre of music: IDM, Glitch, Folk, Downtempo, Electro House
Favourite style of art: Illustration, Graphic Arts and Typography
Operating System: Seven
MP3 player of choice: Zune
Personal Quote: "...the self is not something one finds, it is something one creates." -Thomas Szasz
Interests
  • Listening to: Wolfgang Gartner - The Way It Was
  • Reading: Catcher In The Rye, Wordpress Bible
  • Watching: ...Parks & Rec...
  • Playing: LoZ Master Quest... again.
  • Eating: greek yogurt
  • Drinking: DuckRabbit Barleywine <3
...this guy! Me.
Lol. I'm sneaky.

Yeah, I'll be at Animazement this weekend selling them in artists alley, along with the original painting of this in the art room. Yays. Excite.

So uhh. I've been away for a while, thanks to a very hectic senior year of college. Of which I am now a graduate.
...and something tells me that the fact that I mentioned narwhals before graduation makes me a sad person.

That being said, I plan to get back into dA a little bit more, make a little more art, and really just try to be a more supportive and present person on here. I missed you guys! How have you all been? Tell me in a comment, note, whatever, and I'll get to you. Add me on facebook, etc. You've been neglected more than I care to admit and I can't give enough virtual hugs to make up for it.

Rehhhh. Gotta keep a consistent identity and all that...
Plus I'm tired of people mispronouncing it all the time. Drives me up the wall. ><

Yup, I'll be in Raleigh then! Are you gonna be free Sunday afternoon?
